EPISODE EIGHT
Marabel noted the time again as she got off the elevator. She had close to half an hour until Calvin would be at her place for a business opportunity she couldn’t resist.
“This will have to be quick,” she said to herself as she walked down the hallway.
There was only one apartment on the floor, so his door wasn’t hard to find. It was so weird being in front of Coran’s door. Awkward more like it. The silence of the empty hall was closing in on her. She had worked hard to eliminate her nervous tendencies but anything remotely connected to her past made her anxiety reappear with a vengeance.
Just as she was ready to bolt for the hills, he opened the door sporting his famous slight grin. In that moment, time seemed to stop and the memories of only hours before flooded her. Coran made sure to please her in all of the right places. He made her body feel good and the glint in his golden eyes made her heat rise. He made her cum and Lord knows she was not one to have an orgasm from receiving oral pleasure.
Damn. Marabel get yourself together. It was only some damn head.
“Come in,” he said.
His penthouse loft was impeccable in its décor. He must’ve loved the open space feel because there was minimal furniture about. A small black leather sofa, a leather and metallic arm chair, a gorgeous white brick fireplace with a black fur rug placed in front made up his living room. He had a cordoned section with a steel pub style table and two pub chairs that encompassed his dining room. Other than that his loft layout was much like her own but on a larger scale.
“Did Laramie Development design your space as well?”
“Nah,” he said then grabbed her by the elbow and tugged her against his chest.
Marabel was taken by surprise by his sudden forwardness. Her heart nearly jumped out her chest as his chilling scent froze her insides in the right way. After catching her wits before they flew out the window, Marabel bucked her head back.
“Coran, what are you doing?” She chuckled as if she was cool even though she was crumbling inside.
“I wanted to see you.”
“Okay here I am. You see me so what did you need? I have a meeting to get to.”
“Meeting? If you showed up then you have a few moments to spend with me.”
He began to run his hands down the expanse of her body to the dip in her lower back. She wanted to scream with lustful excitement but she refused to let on.
“If you didn’t need anything, I have to jet.”
“Man, stop acting so hard. You’re fine. Plus, I got something for you.”
Her interests became piqued. “A gift? Who would’ve thought? Well as evidence of the previous night, Coran Stone, can definitely be considered a giving man.”
He gave a quick chuckle that rumbled to her core. Marabel couldn’t help but flirt with him. It was effortless even though dangerous in the bigger scheme of things. She refused to fall for him any further than she had already done.
“It’s not technically a gift but more of an opportunity.”
Great, not another opportunity to consider. Today must be my lucky day.
“It’s more of a possible investment. Hopefully a partnership.” He palmed her ass with the last of his statement and Marabel pushed away from him. She couldn’t handle much more of his closeness if there were to be any meeting with Calvin. Only a few more touches and she would have to jump on him in the worst way. That wouldn’t work if she had agreed to meet Calvin in now fifteen minutes.
“Okay, Coran, so speak to me and no funny business.”
“You didn’t say that last night.”
Marabel gave a knowing look while she tried to hide the fact that her cheeks and body where warming to feverish proportions.
“Ouch! Okay, so I googled you and I see that you dabble in the arts. I, myself, am a lover of the finer things in life,” he winked at her then continued, “I already own a few successful businesses around town –“
“Oh you do?”
“Yes. And I’m looking to start another venture. Usually I prefer to go it alone from start to finish but considering I’m interested in opening an art gallery slash event space, I think you would be a wonderful asset.”
“Well that sounds like an interesting concept. Do you have a numbers breakdown or business plan for me to look over?”
“Not exactly. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants.” He closed in the gap between them then scooped her in by way of his hand at the small of her back. “I’m kind of spontaneous like that.”
“What about your other businesses? May I see the financials?”
“I can show you something better than my gross.”
Marabel’s phone chimed. It was a text from Calvin. Shit.
“Okay, so show me what you got because I have to go.”
“Meet me in front of our building around ten tonight.”
“What?”
“Dress in something white and sexy.”
“But –.”
“It’s a surprise so don’t ruin it with questions.”
She stared at the smug expression plastered all over his face then an incoming call buzzed on her phone.
“Looks like you’re needed elsewhere so I’ll catch you later.”
Marabel was at a lost for words. The fact that he wanted to take her somewhere at ten at night and she had to dress sexy all for business was a conundrum if she had ever heard one.
“Yeah,” she stammered, “I have to go.”
Coran winked once again then opened his door for her to exit.
Marabel was in another haze as she rode the two floors down. Coran was up to no good but he had her so reeled in that she could not fight the curiosity. She rounded the corner to find Calvin Laramie standing at her door looking as chocolate as ever in an expensive business suit. What she didn’t count on was him holding the note that was affixed to her doorway.
“Visiting a friend?”
Fuck…
